Flexible learning is skills training at levels 2, 3, 4 and 5.  It offers the opportunity for employees to undertake single qualifications to which the Welsh Government will make a funding contribution of up to a maximum of 50% of its normal funding rates applicable at the time.  The option is available for those employees aged 19 and over.

There is a restriction to the number of Apprentices who can be on this programme Flexible learning.

CAVCA have an obligation to ensure the health, safety and welfare of each and every apprentice.  Prior to signing an Apprentices onto the programme, an appropriately trained person will carry out a vetting process, directed by the Welsh Government Health and Safety Code of Practice, to ensure employers are complying with legislation and that they have appropriate Employers and Public Liability Insurance.  An annual monitor will take place for as long as an apprentice is employed by your company.

CAVCA Health and Safety officer has an obligation to report to the Welsh Government and investigate all relevant apprentice accidents, disease and dangerous occurrences within stipulated time-scales on documentation as details within the Code of Practice.

Mae’n ddyletswydd ar swyddog Iechyd a Diogelwch CAVCA i adrodd wrth Lywodraeth Cymru ac ymchwilio i bob damwain perthnasol i brentisiaid ynghyd ag unrhyw afiechydon neu ddigwyddiadau peryglus o fewn cyfnod penodol yn unol â’r Cod Ymarfer.

Providing the paperwork is accurate, the Friday prior to upload date will guarantee that starts are included in the next upload.

We can pay a contribution of up to £2,600:

If the apprentice is employed for a minimum of 25 hours a week (apprentices must also be paid for time at college) and commence their apprenticeship programme on or after 1 January 2014 then the subsidy will be £50 per week for 52 weeks.

This will be paid to you (the employer) for employing an eligible person under this programme (if approved and if evidence is provided).

Please note that the wage subsidy element of this support is not applicable to apprenticeships within the Public Sector.

Whilst Cardiff and Vale College Apprenticeships will provide the wage subsidy under YRP, it is the responsibility of you, the employer, to ensure that you comply with HM Revenue and Customs Minimum Wage Regulations.

Apprenticeships are available to all ages, so you can take on a new starter or train existing employees. Funding is available towards the cost of training and assessment.  Some Occupational Sectors have age restrictions.

This depends on the requirement of the Apprenticeship Framework, some frameworks require apprentices to have completed level 3 qualifications prior to progression to level 3, others will take into account your industry knowledge and you could start at level 3.
